Gift Meadow is a single shop that designs and sells its own garden flags, doormats, yard signs and porch décor. There are no outside sellers on giftmeadow.shop. This page explains how to tell us if you believe something on our site — a design, a product photo, an illustration, a piece of text — copies a work you own, and what we do when we receive a notice. It follows the notice-and-takedown approach of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). For trademarks and other rights, see our Intellectual Property Policy.
Copyright notices in brief
- Where to send: [email protected], subject line “Copyright notice”.
- What to include: your work, the exact page on our site, your contact details and the statements in section 3.
- Our first reply: within 24 hours on business days, confirming we received it.
- What we do: review the notice, remove or disable the material while we look into it where the notice is complete, and tell you the outcome.
- Personalised text: customer-typed names and dates are printed only on that customer’s item and are not published on the site.
1. What this page covers
Copyright protects original creative works: artwork, illustrations, photographs, written text, typefaces as software, and similar. On giftmeadow.shop, that means the artwork on our flags, mats and signs, our product photos and mockups, the illustrations on the homepage, and the text of our pages and product descriptions. If you believe any of these copies your work without permission, this page is for you.
This page is not the right route for:
- a problem with an order — please use Contact Us;
- a trademark concern, such as a name or logo — see the Intellectual Property Policy;
- a privacy request about your personal information — see the Privacy Policy.
2. How our designs are made
We design the motifs we sell — sunflowers, buttercups, bees, tulips, cardinals, pumpkins, pine trees, paw prints, stripes and lettering — as our own artwork for our own range. We do not sell designs featuring sports teams, colleges, brands, cartoon characters or celebrities, and we do not accept personalisation that asks us to print them. Even so, mistakes can happen, and two artists can arrive at similar ideas. If you think we have crossed a line, we want to hear about it.
3. How to send a copyright notice
Email [email protected] with the subject “Copyright notice” and include all of the following, so that we can act on it quickly:
- Your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address. If you act for the copyright owner, say whom you represent.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been copied — for example “my watercolour of a cardinal on a pine branch, published on my website in 2023” — with a link to it or a copy attached.
- The exact web address (URL) on giftmeadow.shop where the material appears, and which part of the page you mean: the product photo, the printed design, the text, or another element.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name at the end of the email is fine).
If something is missing, we will ask for it, which can slow things down. Please do not send original artwork files larger than needed; a link or a clear image is enough.
4. What we do with a notice
- We confirm receipt within 24 hours on business days.
- We review it. We compare your work with the material on our site and look at our own design files and dates.
- We act. If the notice is complete and the claim appears valid, we remove or disable the material — for example we unpublish the product or replace the image — and stop producing the item while we look into it.
- We tell you the outcome, including what was removed or why we think the material does not infringe.
If a design is removed, orders already printed and shipped are not recalled from customers, but we do not print new ones.
5. If you believe material was removed by mistake
Most material on our site is our own. If you are a customer or a creator whose content we published — for example a verified buyer’s review or photo — and it was removed after a notice you believe is wrong, you can send us a counter-notice with: your name, address, phone number and email; the material that was removed and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if you live outside the United States, any judicial district in which Gift Meadow may be found) and to accept service from the person who sent the original notice; and your signature. We forward a valid counter-notice to the original sender and may restore the material if they do not tell us within the legal timeframe that they have started court action.
6. Customer personalisation
When a customer types text into the boxes on a product page — a family name, a year, a grandchild’s first name, a house number — that text is printed only on their own item. It is not published on our website. If you believe a printed order used a protected name or logo, please contact us through the Intellectual Property Policy route; we refuse personalisation requests that include team, brand or character names.
7. False or misleading notices
Under US law, a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. Please make sure you own the rights or are authorised to act before you send a notice, and consider whether the use might be permitted — for example a plain flower, a common phrase such as “Welcome” or “Hello Spring”, or a generic stripe is not protected by itself.
8. Repeated problems
We take repeat issues seriously. If the same kind of design keeps drawing valid complaints, we withdraw that design family from the shop. If a reviewer repeatedly posts content that infringes other people’s copyright, we remove their reviews and may block them from posting.
9. Examples of what helps
A clear notice
“My name is A. Gardner, illustrator. My 2022 artwork ‘Three Sunflowers’ (link) appears to be copied in the product photo at giftmeadow.shop/products/… — specifically the arrangement of the three flower heads and the leaf shapes. I have a good-faith belief this use is not authorised… Signed, A. Gardner.”
A notice that needs more
“You stole my design, take it down.” We will reply asking which design, where it appears on our site and which work of yours it copies.
10. Common motifs in garden décor
Garden flags and doormats share a small vocabulary: sunflowers, daisies, tulips, bees, birds, pumpkins, leaves, pine trees, stripes and welcome words. Nobody owns the idea of a sunflower or the word “Welcome”. What copyright protects is a particular artist’s expression — the exact drawing, its composition, its colours and details. When we review a notice, we look at that expression: is our artwork a copy of yours, or an independent drawing of the same common subject? We explain our reasoning in our reply, and if the answer is not clear-cut, we lean towards withdrawing the design rather than arguing about it.
11. Lettering and fonts
Lettering is a big part of what we sell: a family name in a warm serif, “Welcome” in a loose script, a house number in bold figures. Fonts are creative software, and we intend to use only typefaces whose licences allow printed products. If you are a type designer and believe one of your fonts is used on our products or site without a proper licence, send a notice as described in section 3 and tell us which font and which products. We will check, and if we cannot show a suitable licence, we stop using that font on new orders and on the site.
12. Product photos and mockups
Our product images are our own photographs and mockups made for our range. If you believe a photo on our site is your photograph — for example a porch, a garden scene or a front door that you shot — tell us the page and attach or link your original. We replace any image we cannot show we have the right to use.
13. If you bought an item that is affected
If a design you bought is later withdrawn after a notice, you do not need to do anything; you can keep and use your item. If you would rather return it, our usual Returns & Exchanges Policy applies within 60 days of delivery, with a free return label.
14. Reviews and customer photos
Only verified buyers can post reviews on giftmeadow.shop. If a review includes a photo or text that you own — for example a picture of your porch posted by someone else — send a notice with the product page link and the date of the review. We remove the photo or review while we check, and tell the reviewer why.
15. Notices from outside the United States
We ship to Canada, Australia and New Zealand as well as the United States, and creators in any country can contact us. You do not need to cite US law: send the same details listed in section 3 and tell us which country’s rights you rely on. We review notices from every country in the same way and with the same care, and reply in plain English within 24 hours on business days.
16. Timelines at a glance
| Step | When |

| We confirm we received your notice | Within 24 hours on business days |
| We ask for anything missing | In that first reply |
| Material removed or disabled for a complete, apparently valid notice | As soon as our review supports it |
