Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Gift Meadow collects when you visit giftmeadow.shop or buy a garden flag, doormat, yard sign or other piece from us, why we need it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what choices you have. Gift Meadow is the business responsible for your information: Gift Meadow, 32 Azalea Court, Trenton, NJ 08648, United States. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

Privacy in brief

  • We collect what we need to make and deliver your order: your name, email, addresses, the items you choose and the words you ask us to print.
  • We share it only with the services that print, pack, deliver and process your order, and with authorities where the law requires.
  • We never sell your personal information or share it for advertising by others.
  • Photos you email us (for example of a damaged parcel) are deleted 30 days after delivery of your order or its replacement.
  • No tracking ads: we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the site.
  • Your rights: ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time — we reply within 24 hours on business days.

1. The information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

  • Order details: your name, email address, billing address, shipping address and, if you enter one, a phone number for the delivery. When you send a gift, the recipient’s name and address.
  • Personalisation text: the words you type into the boxes on a product page, such as a family name, an “Est.” year, an initial, grandchildren’s first names, a couple’s first names and wedding date, or a house number and street name. This text is printed on your item and saved on your order.
  • Account details: if you create an account, your email address, a password (stored in scrambled form; we cannot read it) and your saved addresses.
  • Messages: anything you write to [email protected], including order numbers, questions and any photos you attach.
  • Reviews: only customers who bought an item can leave a review. If you do, we publish the name you choose to show and your review text.

Please do not send us card numbers, bank details, passwords or government ID numbers by email. We never ask for them.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Technical data: when you load a page, our web server and our security and delivery network receive your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request and the time. This is used to deliver the page, keep the site secure and stop abuse.
  • Shopping cookies: small files that remember your cart, your session and, if you sign in, that you are signed in. See section 4.

1.3 Information from others

Once a payment provider is connected to the store, it will tell us whether your payment succeeded and may share basic details such as the payer’s name and the billing address; it does not share your full card or account number with us. Carriers may tell us delivery events for your parcel, such as “delivered” or “address problem”.

2. Why we use it

We do not send marketing emails unless you ask to receive them, and every such email would have a one-click way to stop. We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similar effects on you.

3. Who we share it with

We share only what each service needs to do its part:

  • Print and fulfilment partners receive the item details, the personalisation text and the shipping name and address so they can print, pack and send your order.
  • Carriers and postal services receive the shipping name, address and, where needed, a phone number to deliver your parcel. For parcels to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, customs authorities may receive the information on the customs form.
  • Payment provider — once connected — receives what it needs to take your payment and issue refunds. It handles card and account data under its own privacy policy and security standards.
  • Website hosting, security and email services that run giftmeadow.shop and our support inbox process data on our behalf and only on our instructions.
  • Authorities and advisers when the law requires it, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud.

If Gift Meadow is ever sold or merged, customer information may pass to the new owner, who must keep honouring this policy. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

4. Cookies

Cookies are small text files saved by your browser. We use only the cookies a shop needs to work:

  • Cart and session cookies remember the items in your basket and your progress through checkout.
  • Login cookies keep you signed in to your account, if you have one.
  • Security cookies set by our security and delivery network help tell real visitors from automated attacks.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the shop still shows pages, but the cart and checkout will not work without cart cookies.

5. How long we keep it

  • Orders (items, prices, addresses, personalisation text): for as long as tax and accounting law requires, normally several years, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Photos you email us: deleted 30 days after delivery of your order or of its replacement.
  • Support emails: kept while your order or question is open and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can follow up, then deleted.
  • Accounts: until you ask us to close them. Order records linked to the account are kept as above.
  • Server and security logs: kept for a short period for security, then deleted automatically.

6. How we protect it

The whole site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to order data is limited to the people and services that need it to fulfil orders. Passwords are stored in scrambled form. No method of storing or sending data is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your information and will tell you, and the authorities where required, if a breach affects you.

7. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and send you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong or incomplete — for example a misspelt name on an order that has not yet been printed;
  • delete your information, except what we must keep by law (such as order records for tax);
  • stop or limit a particular use, or object to it;
  • receive your information in a portable format.

Depending on where you live — for example in a US state with a consumer privacy law, in Canada, Australia or New Zealand — you may have further rights, including the right to complain to a privacy regulator. To make a request, email [email protected] from the address linked to your order or account. We reply within 24 hours on business days and may ask you to confirm details of an order so we know the request really comes from you. We never charge for a request and never treat you differently for making one.

8. Personalisation text about other people

Many of our pieces carry other people’s names: grandchildren on a “Nana’s Garden” flag, a couple on a wedding mat, a family name on a gift flag. When you type someone else’s name, please make sure they would be happy to see it printed. We use that text only to print and deliver the order, and to resolve any question about it.

9. Children

Giftmeadow.shop is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or the age set by the law where you live). A grandchild’s first name typed by an adult for a flag is treated as order text, used only to print that item. If you believe a child has sent us personal information directly, email us and we will delete it.

10. Visitors outside the United States

Gift Meadow is based in the United States, and our website and services are operated from the United States. If you visit from Canada, Australia, New Zealand or elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those at home. We protect it as described here wherever it is processed.

11. Gifts sent to someone else

When you send a flag, mat or sign directly to another person, we receive their name and address from you. We use it only to deliver that gift and to sort out any delivery problem. We do not add the recipient to any list, and we do not contact them except about the delivery itself — for example if the carrier cannot find the address. Order and shipping emails go to you, the buyer, so the surprise stays a surprise.
