Intellectual Property Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what belongs to Gift Meadow on giftmeadow.shop, what you may and may not do with it, how we respect other people’s trademarks and creative work — especially in the personalised flags, mats and signs we print — and how to tell us about a concern. Copyright notices have a dedicated procedure on our DMCA page; this page covers trademarks, names, logos, designs and everything else.
In brief
- Ours: the Gift Meadow name and logo, our designs, illustrations, product photos and page text.
- Yours to use: the products you buy, for your home and as gifts; links to our pages.
- Not allowed: copying our designs or text for sale, or using our name and logo in a way that suggests a connection with us.
- Our own rule: no team, college, brand, character or celebrity names or logos on anything we design or print — including personalisation.
- Report a concern: [email protected], subject “IP concern”; we reply within 24 hours on business days.
1. What belongs to Gift Meadow
The following are owned by Gift Meadow or used with permission, and are protected by intellectual property laws:
- the Gift Meadow name, the garden-flag-and-daisy logo and the way we present them;
- the artwork on our products — for example the sunflower welcome design, the buttercup “Hello Sunshine” meadow, the bee-and-honeycomb pattern, the daisy row, the seed-packet category cards and the “Porch & garden” size drawings;
- product photos, mockups and illustrations on the site;
- the text of our product descriptions, category introductions, guides and policies;
- the selection and arrangement of the shop as a whole.
2. What you may do
- Use the products you buy from us at home, in your garden, at your business entrance or as gifts — that is what they are for.
- Take and share photos of your Gift Meadow flag, mat or sign on your own porch, including on social media.
- Link to any page of giftmeadow.shop, and quote a short passage with a link back, for example in a gift guide.
- Print a page of our Size Guide or a policy for your own reference.
3. What you may not do
- Copy, trace, reprint or sell our designs, illustrations or photos, or use them to make your own products.
- Copy our descriptions, guides or policies onto another shop or marketplace listing.
- Use the Gift Meadow name or logo in a way that suggests you are us, are connected with us or are endorsed by us — including in domain names, social media handles, ads or keyword campaigns.
- Scrape the site in bulk or use automated tools to copy our catalogue.
- Remove watermarks or copyright notices from any of our images.
If you would like to use something in a way not listed here — for example featuring a product in a magazine or blog with our photo — ask us first at [email protected]. We are usually happy to say yes.
4. The Gift Meadow name and logo
“Gift Meadow” and our logo identify our shop and products. Please do not use them for other products, and do not create names or logos that are confusingly similar. Accurate, fair mentions are fine — for example “I bought this flag from Gift Meadow” in a review.
5. How we respect other people’s rights
Garden décor is a crowded field, and many shops sell flags and mats with sports teams, cartoon characters and brand logos on them. We do not. Every design in our range is our own drawing of common garden subjects — flowers, bees, birds, leaves, seasons — with our own lettering. We do not use:
- sports team, league, club or college names, colours schemes marketed as a team, mascots or logos;
- company names, product names, brand logos or slogans that belong to others;
- cartoon, film, TV, game or book characters, or celebrity names and likenesses;
- other artists’ illustrations or photographs without a licence.
6. Personalisation and other people’s rights
Many of our products let you type text — a family name, a monogram initial, an “Est.” year, grandchildren’s first names, a couple’s names and wedding date, or a house number and street. We print what you type, exactly as typed, without a proof. That makes this rule important:
- Please type only your own words: names of real people who are happy to be named, dates, numbers and short phrases.
- Do not type team names, brand names, character names, celebrity names or slogans that belong to others.
- Our product pages and examples never suggest protected names — our sample texts are things like “The Rivera Family”, “Est. 2019” and “Nana’s Garden”.
If an order’s personalisation asks for protected names or slogans, we cancel that item and refund it in full within 7 days, and tell you why. We would rather lose a sale than print something that belongs to someone else. See also our Terms of Service, section 3.
7. Personalisation examples: printed or declined
| Typed text | Printed? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The Rivera Family · Est. 2019 | Yes | A family name and a year |
| Nana’s Garden · Ava, Leo, Mia | Yes | A garden title and first names |
| Ana & Luis · 06.14.2026 | Yes | A couple’s names and a date |
| 1428 · Azalea Court | Yes | A house number and street name |
| A professional sports team’s name | No | A team name belongs to the team and its league |
| A cartoon character’s name or catchphrase | No | Characters and catchphrases belong to their creators |
| A soft-drink or car brand slogan | No | Brand slogans are trademarks |
| Your own small business name | Usually | We may ask you to confirm you own or run the business |
8. Lookalike shops and misuse of our name
If you see a shop, ad or social media account using the Gift Meadow name or logo, or selling copies of our designs, please let us know with a link or a screenshot. We only sell through giftmeadow.shop and only send email from addresses at giftmeadow.shop. If you bought something from a lookalike shop believing it was us, tell us what happened; we cannot refund an order we did not receive, but we will help you report it.
9. Seasonal and holiday designs
Seasons and holidays are for everyone: tulips in spring, pumpkins in fall, cardinals and pine trees in winter, “Let It Snow” and “Warm Wishes”. Our seasonal range sticks to these shared images and our own drawings. We do not reproduce characters from holiday films, branded holiday mascots or the artwork on other companies’ seasonal products.
10. How to report an intellectual property concern
If you believe something on giftmeadow.shop, or a product we sell, uses your trademark or other rights without permission, email [email protected] with the subject “IP concern” and include:
- your name, the organisation you represent (if any), and your contact details;
- the right you rely on — for example a registered trademark with its number and country, or an unregistered right with evidence of use;
- the exact page or product on our site, and what you believe is infringing;
- what you would like us to do (remove a product, change a description, stop a use);
- a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
For copyright in artwork, photos or text, please use the procedure on our DMCA page, which asks for a few additional statements.
11. What happens next
- We confirm receipt within 24 hours on business days.
- We review the concern against our design files and the page in question.
- If the concern appears valid, we remove the product or content, stop printing it and tell you what we changed.
- If we believe there is no infringement, we explain why and invite you to send any further evidence.
Customers who already received a withdrawn design can keep using it; if they would rather return it, our usual 60-day returns with a free return label apply (see Returns & Exchanges).
12. Ideas and suggestions
We love hearing design ideas — a flag for a particular flower, a doormat size we do not offer yet, a seasonal design we have missed. If you send us an idea, we may use it or something similar without payment or credit, unless we agree otherwise in writing first. If your idea is a finished artwork that you want to license or sell to us, tell us that in the first message so we can talk about terms before you send the files.
13. Why this matters to us
Gift Meadow is a small shop built on original, cheerful designs for ordinary porches. Respecting other people’s work protects the artists and companies who made it, protects you from receiving a product that should never have been printed, and protects our own designs too. When we decline a personalisation request or withdraw a design after a complaint, it is not a judgement of the customer; it is the same rule we would want others to follow with our sunflowers and buttercups. If you are ever unsure whether a phrase is fine to print, email us before ordering with the exact text and we will tell you within 24 hours on business days.
14. Common questions
Can I order a flag with my favourite team’s name?
No. We do not print team, league or college names or logos. A family name, a house number or a garden title such as “Grandpa’s Veggie Patch” is welcome.
Can I add my business logo to a doormat?
Our personalisation fields accept typed text only, and we do not take logo uploads. A business name you own can be typed as text in a field that allows it; we may ask you to confirm you own the name.
Can I sell flags I bought from you?
Reselling a few products you bought (for example at a garage sale) is fine. Reprinting our designs or using our photos to sell copies is not.
Can I print “Hello Spring” or “Welcome” on my own crafts?
Of course. Common words and phrases are free for everyone; what we ask is that you do not copy our particular artwork, layout or lettering, or present your crafts as Gift Meadow products. Happy making!
Can I use your photo in my blog’s gift guide?
Please ask first. We usually agree, as long as the photo links back to the product page and is not edited.
